Common questions

Where are my images stored?

Everywhere, on your machine. ImgSera reads the files you import and writes exports to the output folder you choose. It does not upload anything, and it does not delete your originals — "overwrite originals" exists but is off by default.

Why does the AI need to download something first?

Upscaling and background removal use real neural networks (Real-ESRGAN and U²-Net). The model file is downloaded once, only when you ask for it, and is stored outside the application folder so updating ImgSera never re-downloads it. Afterwards those tools work offline.

Does ImgSera need an internet connection?

Only for the AI model downloads you explicitly request. Conversion, resizing, compression, PDF work and batch processing are fully functional with the network disconnected.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-in step in the application, and none is required to use it.

Can I try it before using my own images?

Yes. The dashboard includes Ask Sera, plus an Explore ImgSera gallery of curated sample images across nature, portraits, products, photos and objects, with a demo workspace you can load.

Where does history and settings live?

In your user data folder, alongside the thumbnail cache, logs and downloaded models. It is local only — never synced — and history can be cleared from within the application at any time.

Help without contacting us

Most questions are answered by the documentation bundled with the app.
